Legal fence height
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.50 PM
My back garden backs onto my neighbours and we share the fence. My house is about 2 ft higher making the fence on my half 4ft high and in their half 6ft high. I wish to have more privacy and want to add an extra 2ft of trellis or some type of coverage. If I did it this it would make the height of the fence on their side to 8ft and on my side 6ft would I be breaking the law?

I'm pretty sure you can go up to 7ft without permission and also 2ft of trellis on top making a total of 9ft
