What sort of questions would you generally ask?

Hi, I'm looking to have someone in to do some plastering for a couple of rooms. Apart from asking the most obvious- the price question, what else do i need to ask? Like what sort of materials are they planning to use? I've read through a question and the answers generally came back as 'alway do 2 coats, not overall 1 coats, etc' And what sort of good answers should i be expecting? Any help you can give would be great Cheers.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

always put two coats of plaster on your walls and celling and if your walls are right back to brickwork you will need a bonding coat aswell.

There are many plasterers out there that call themselves plasterers but my daughter could do a better job so the most important question should be references?

I would say, don't try to educate yourself on plastering use this website for what it's there for. Read lots of positive feedback then let him do his job. For a good plasterer with lots of positive feedback it's second nature to do a good job. He would have to think outside the square to do a bodge job.
A bodgy plasterer would not have lots of good feedback.
Educate yourself on this website not plastering!!

I would agree with michael murphy and say the best thing to do is read feedback and reviews. A good plasterer will have plenty and just put your trust in a good tradesman. Most tradesman are good it is just a small minority that make us look bad! Good luck.
