Electric shower not working after changing from electric immersion heater to combi

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.04 PM

I used to have a boiler which heated the radiators and an electric immersion heater that heated the water in the taps. In addition I had an electric Mira Sport shower which was in the en-suite bathroom. The bills for the electric immersion heater was very high so I recently removed the immersion heater and boiler and replaced it with a combi boiler. The electric shower (mira sport) immediately stopped working. The power light is on but the low flow warning light is lit when I try to switch the shower on. There appears to be flow into the shower but no flow out. Can anybody advise?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there, an electric shower like yours requires a mains cold feed supply, as the shower heats the water itself. it sounds like yours ran off the water tank system and since you've took it out the water supply has been cut off. get the plumber who took it all out to check if cold supply is sufficient to shower. Hope this helpful.

However it could be a faulty low level sensor within the mira sport unit. Hope this Helps

Hi there, An electrical shower works from a cold feed and using the electrical supply as a pump which fired the water out and heats when required. What may have happened is the cold water feed isn't sufficient for the shower so ask the advice of a plumber to weather the water feed is sufficient/correct.

hi either the plumber has bypassed the cold main feed to the shower and connected it to tank fed feed or due to removing the tank and alteration of pipework has dislodged debris or scale which is blocking the filter or shower internally
