Replacement of existing fence by neighbour not finished

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.04 PM

My neighbour has replaced his 6' panelled fence, which blew down during the storms before Christmas, with 4' panels, I wasn't happy about this but agreed to keep this on friendly basis with my neighbour as he said he would add trellis on top so fence is in line with fence posts. Several months have passed and the fence is still unfinished, do I have any legal rights to insist he finishes the fence, it looks unsightly and I'm concerned it will never be done.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

bottom line is it's his fence, there is no law about how low or high a fence should be or in fact how unsightly it looks. he can leave it down if he want there is nothing you can do legally. best advice would be to try and resolve the situation amicably. I have found clients who pay for their neighbours fence to be replaced just because they want it done properly.

Unfortunately i don't think you have a leg to stand and if he has not left 2' of post sticking up, there is no way you can fix the trellis with out it looking more unsightly Peter
