Damp Proofing

mould / damp on insulated walls (where walls meet floor)

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.04 PM

I have damp patches developing mould in three bedrooms where walls meet floors, the walls are insulated and rendered externally. Is this condensation of cold spots due to insulation failure, possible void? Or problems externally

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello, We hear from a lot of our customers that condensation and mould problems develop after having loft and wall insulation put in. It is not a sign that there is a fault with the insulation, and obviously insulation is a vital improvement people need to make in their homes. However, for a perfect indoor atmosphere, you will need a combination of heating, insulation and ventilation. On average, 4 pints of moisture are created per person per day through every day activities such as cooking, cleaning, bathing, breathing etc. Insulation is designed to trap heat inside the property, but at the same time, it is trapping a lot of the moisture that is created as well. Ask a ventilation specialist to take a look at the property, they will be able to find a guaranteed solution to the problem for you.
