Is it safe to leave a replaced asbestos concrete water tank in the loft?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.50 PM
My old tank is too big to fit through the loft opening, so my plumber has left it, empty, in the loft. Do I need to wrap it in plastic? Also, it is quite heavy and no longer on a plinth, so is it best stored in the middle or sides of the loft? Many thanks.

it is safe to leave the tank as long as it is left alone and in a safe and secure place. it's when the tank is broken when it becomes dangerous. When the tank is broken the fibres go into the atmosphere and can then get into your lungs and grow. asbestos should only be moved by a specialist. derbyshire plumbing and heating
