Traditional Glow Worm micron boiler replacement options (condensor boiler)

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.50 PM

I have a 14 year old Glow Worm micron traditional boiler which is still working but I'd like to replace it before it stops. It's a 3 bed 14 yr old property. I understand that a replacement will be a condensor boiler but advice so far is confusing. B Gas told me I'd need a new larger flue which I understand but another gas plumber told me I'd need new internal piping from the boiler into the drain which means bursting into tiling underneath the boiler and having visible piping in the kitchen - boiler is on an outside wall in the kitchen and I'm guessing that the main sewer pipe runs right next to it - it's boxed in and tiled as well. B gas told me I'd need to replace external piping to fit a combi boiler so ruled that out due to costs and hassle. A traditional condensor boiler seems best option but which brand and what other issues do I need to consider?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Why change your boiler? and spend around £2500 Glow worm Micron is a very simple boiler with a cast iron heat exchanger will last another 10 years. I worked for BG for 8 years the Engineers are on commission for selling new boilers
