Plastering & Rendering

Rendering the entire inside of my house - how to avoid shrinking and cracking

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.07 PM

Hello I've just brought a house from auction and every wall has had everything taken off so it is all back to bare brick work.. The bricks are sound but everything is very dusty and dry . I've had a quote for rendering everything with a sika waterproofer and skimming after. My only concerns are shrinking and cracking. How can this be avoided and are there things I should be looking out for? Many thanks John

bear in mind if all plaster has been removed from the external walls then these walls need insulating to bring up to current building regulations unless it has cavity wall insulation? councils building control dept can advise if ring them (50mm kingspan or similar plus 12.5mm plasterboard and skim meets regulations)
