Shower pump problem - when turn shower on pump does not start

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.49 PM

Have fitted a new shower valve and shower head. System was fully drained. Now when shower is left overnight, when you turn shower on pump does not start, if I wiggle the hot water pipe feed shower starts instantly, is then ok for a few hours and will turn on and off no problem. Not sure if filters are blocked, or draining back? The height of the valve is 300mm higher than before and shower head is higher. Pump is waist height and has not moved.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If you have a pump fitted you might want to try to turn off pump then turn water on at the shower doing this may get any air locks out of the system this sometimes helps hope this helps.

Seems the head pressure or the distance the shower control in relation to the pump is not enough. What do the instuctions say the minimum distance should be? Try lowering the pump or fitting a pull cord activation switch which is used in these circustances. Also could be sticking flow switch on pump. Does pump have an expansion vessel as this may need recharging.

sounds like air in the pipe, was the hot cylinder connection fitted with a flange or recommended pipe work, as bubbles form in the cylinder can be sucked down the pipe to the shower pump causing damage and restricting gravity flow start up.
