Plaster, skim, and paint ceiling in 4 rooms

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.32 PM

I am having LED downlights installed in my suspended ceiling. To run the cables the electrician will need to 'chase' the cables, which will involve removing some small bits of the ceiling (width = width of the cable, max length approx. 6 inches) in order to bypass any beams running across the ceiling . I will therefore need the ceiling plastering, skimming, and painting across 4 rooms (approx 650 sq ft total area). Can this be done in patches (i.e. only plaster, skim, and paint the areas which have been damaged)? Or is it best to get the whole ceiling done for consistency? Thanks Ed

Hi, you won't need to fully re-skim the ceiling for such a small chase, could easy be filled with filler or a fine plaster such as easi-fill, then sanded flat, but would be best to repaint the ceilings as no two colours are the same I.e dulux White is totally different to a johnstones or glidden white and would show patchy, hope this helps
