Cleaning out Mould etc. from Washing Machine Input Trays?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.49 PM
Hello, We have just moved into a new home, and the washing machine here is somewhat old (and was not used for nearly a year by the previous owners). Unfortunately the state of the washing machine input tray (specifically for the softener alley) is very yucky and unhygienic to say the least! It has what seems like mould and or fungus (green and black layer). Searching online had provided tips like use 2 cups of vinegar and a cup of bicarbonate of soda (also optionally with detergent) and run a cycle at the highest temperature (ofcourse without any clothes). So I have used vinegar, soda, and detergent and ran a round @95C. While the machine worked and the inside is cleaned up the tray is still not tidied up.. Rather it seems somewhat clogged as even the vinegar and soda did not flow through well -- they seemed to stay in the tray. Any help or suggestions for DIY is greatly appreciated? Ideally I would like to get it to a hygienic and safe state instead of splashing on buying a new one straight away. Also some water drained out, from the washing machine round, seemed to have stagnated and blocked up the kitchen food disposal/extractor subarea of the sink. Any advice to help fix this is also graciously appreciated! Thanks in advance, Geetpot
