Can I drill through the dpm in my garage?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.06 PM

Hi. Can anyone advise me? I'm converting my double garage into a gym/hot tub room but also want to install a toilet and hand basin. The drains are not a problem as they are right outside. It's just getting the waste pipe through the wall which would have to be drilled at low level below the damp proof membrane or through the membrane? Any advice welcome. By the way this is a new build house and garage.

Drilling at low level will not be the answer to putting a pipe in through the floor as you will get the bend to go round,, Best option cut a 300/450mm square out of the floor, when doing this try and save as much of the dpm as posable, cut the bricks out to form a hole from the outside, fit pipe together and put in to place, make sure when you put the pipe in it as 30mm clearance from the internal face brickwork wall and the collar is at floor level, fill hole with a dry concrete upto the DPM, cut a piece of dpm so it fit over the pipe then tape it on to the existing dpm making sure there is no open joints and around the pipe, concrete floor. peter
