Can I lay stone floor tiles over parquet wood floor tiles?

Can I lay stone floor tiles over parquet wood floor tiles? The parquet tiles have been down over 25 years and are sound.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It would be better to take them up but you can tile over them, I have just done a small kitchen that had just this so I went over the top with 6mm tile cement board glue and screwed but this was with a ceramic tile, I would take the parquet up and replace with either 6 or 12mm tile backer board (glue and screwed) as you are using stone this will keep your height down.
