Leading/Ridge Issue on Terraced House

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.49 PM

I have noticed that the mortar where the leading is at the bottom of the ridge between next door and our house has a hole in it. I've also noticed inside that on the top floor at the join in the ceiling the paint has changed colour, so concerned its through a leak in that area. We don't have a loft so I'm at a loss. Who should I contact in the first instance to find out what the problem is? Do I need a surveyor or a roofer?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You would need a roofer. It sounds to me that you need the lead flashing reset and pointed. Ask the roofer about flashpoint lead mastic. It's cheap and life expectancy is longer than mortar.
