do you have to put gripper rods under the lip of the stair as well as the sides?

Hi I have found a picture for you on line in the link below . One sticks goes on the risers and one on the tread with the underlay going from gripper rod to gripper rod.

There is no need to put the gripper rods under the lip. The only place to put the gripper rod is to the back of the tread and at the base of the riser, allow a gap between the rods of approx the width of the stick of gripper so that it forms a set of teeth!
The same would apply to any stairs that are known as winders, however it's recommended that the grippers are also placed in front of any skirting board. (tip) place the gripper rods so that you can read any writing. Regards Floors-4-less
