What is the definition of "Part Qualified" (electrician / electrician's mate)?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.03 PM

I have recently seen many adverts for postions of Electricians and Electrician's Mate that ask for a Qualified or Part Qualified Level 2 and 3. I would like to know what they classify as "Part Qualified" ? Is this someone who has completed a level 1 and currently completing a level 2? Or would someone who is 2/3 (two-thirds) of the way through a level 2 qualification be classed as Part Qualified? Any details regarding this matter would be very helpful! Many thanks!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I think it's very much open for discussion with the prospective employer. Clearly you must have some knowledge and understanding and if you can demonstrate that you are currently studying and have partly completed the course you should be well on your way. Whilst academic qualifications are important, you should have a good degree of practical on job experience as this will help you when they ask you questions during the interview.
