Ceramic tiled kitchen floor and would like to put vinyl down

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.06 PM

Hi, I have a ceramic tiled kitchen floor and would like to put vinyl down. I have been told that the only option is to have the floor screed but I'm concerned that the base of my kitchen units will be damaged, are there any other solutions? I did think that a thin ply affixed to the floor may be a better option. Thanks Ruth

Hi Ruth there's a possibility you could put 6mm ply down depends on what type of floor is beneath the tiles. Sometimes if the floor is up and down the joints of the ply might start to show up in the vinyl after time, Will be a lot more dearer then the screed but if your units are on legs shouldn't do any damage to the units and a lot cheaper hope this helps but just going on on my opinion having not seen the job

I would go for latex, making sure floor has a primer down prior to screed.
