Waterproofing brickwork prior to rendering - what product is best in your experience?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.06 PM
Hello! :D I need to redo a small section of render on the house. What should I apply to the brickwork to waterproof it? Once this dries, I can then apply 2 coats of render (scratch + 2nd coat). One idea was maybe to do a slurry of waterproofer and render and paint in on with a brush first and then once that becomes tacky, to add the 1st coat / scratch coat? Can anybody recommend me a specific product pls?

SBR is the favourite in waterproofing. As you say, make a slurry mix paint on and scratch. it also helps with the rendering as the render coat won't suck as much making it easier to work with.
