Customer wanted refund but did not say refund for what (plumbing)

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.49 PM

Hi I'm a plumber, last year I signed up to a website when work was a bit slow to bid on jobs. I've done 6 job and 6 reviews which were all excellent and gave 5 stars. I did this job for this customer which when finished, left a review two weeks after the work was done, saying she very happy with the work and will defo pass on my details to friends and customers. Two weeks after putting the review, she had taken it off the website. I had a phone call off the website 3 months later saying the customer wanted a refund for the job, I asked a refund for what? She didn't say, she left it another 5 months and I got a letter from the customer asking for a refund and if I don't respond, she will take it more action I've had no contact from the customer to go back and alter the few issues they have had. I've tried contacting her to sort the few issues she had. The time I've been working as a plumber I've never had an issue, a few snags but never left a job without completing them. Not sure if she has a case or not? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The law says you must first give them the option(plumber, builder, etc) of providing the service again if it’s possible for them to do so. But you’re legally entitled to go straight to getting a discount if any of the following apply: it’s not possible to get the service done again it would take too long to get the service done again it would be very inconvenient for you to get the service done again The trader might agree to give you a discount rather than re-do the service if that’s what you’d prefer - you’ll have to ask and see what they say. So i believe the Best scenario is to contact the client and discuss with them why They are not satisfied with the service provided and hopefully Come to an agreement.

Why don't you be pro-active and go and knock on the ladies door? If you can't get hold of her, maybe a personal visit is the only way. At least that way you can't be called for not doing anything of trying to sort the situation out.

New Romney
do not go round and see her write a letter asking for her reasons for a refund ,send it recorded delivery.if you believe she has no reason to be given a refund tell her to go to law with her complaint and fight it.
