Boiler cuts out and goes onto error mode every time turned hot tap on, and now when turn heating on

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.06 PM

Hi there, 4 days ago my boiler started to cut out and goes onto error mode every time we turned hot tap on. Plumber came out and diagnosed the problem as the gas valve, so he replaced it. The same thing happened again, he came back and said the problem must have been the seals on the flue pipe (not sure of correct name). He then changed that and now the same problem occurs when I turn heating on, hot water is working fine but when I turn heating on the pilot light fires up for a few seconds them goes off, repeats process twice then the third time the error light comes on. Does anyone know what the problem is please?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I believe I know the cause, but I cannot condone homeowners carrying out their own repairs to a gas appliance because of the possible safety risks to you. Suggest you choose more carefully who you invite to repair your boiler next time, with respect. Would recommend you post the repair on www.mybuilder.com or search Gas Safe website for engineers who specialise in boiler repairs, as I feel who you employed does not!

Hi it's difficult to diagnose any boiler problem without being in front of it, there could be something quit simple going wrong such as a faulty thermister or overheat stat the engineer should have used a multimeter to determine exactly what part is faulty. Regards, Adam Gas & Plumbing Services
