Minton tile hallway in need of repair

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.06 PM

We are planning on selling our house and naturally want to sell for the most money possible! House has a Minton tile hallway which is in a bad state-a number of tiles cracked and some missing. It is currently covered with carpet to prevent any further damage but this doesn't look great and is a stunning feature of the property being covered up! Have had a few quotes to repair and these are in the thousands, something will really can't afford to do at this stage. Are there any cheaper alternatives which could show of this fantastic feature, but not cost the earth? Any help or advice very much appreciated! Thank you

Not knowing the extent of the damage to the floor but for a quick fix, clean the floor with soapy water when completely dry coat with boiled linseed and turps mix 50/50 using a cloth, leave for a day then coat again, the more times you do it the better it will look. Do not use Raw linseed. I hope that helps.
