Putting up a partition wall and would it just be timber?

The house I am moving into has the living room as soon as you open the front door, I think there would have been a wall with a door into the living room previously. Would it be easy enough to put up a partition wall with a door to make a hallway, would it just be timber and would it be expensive? Thanks

Timber frame work and plasterboard would be a nice quickfix. No need to use brick work. The timber framed wall could be up and plastered within 2 days. Chris
