Flaking paint work on eaves of our house after only two years !!
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.06 PM
We had our house painted two years ago, by a professional painter. However the paint has since peeled off from under the eaves. At the time, the painter insisted on using dulux gloss white on the eaves. Rest of the paint work is so so. Painter has since died, so we are unable to get him to repair. Now have to get the eaves completely re-painted, what paint and preparation can you suggest? Many thanks MGM

Hi, sand back and use a Dulux weathershield, this product will last between 3-7 years dependent of weather conditions. Make sure it has two undercoats and one top coat gloss.

Dulux paint is good for the job, the main thing to get right is the preperation of the surfaces before the final coat. The problem is, what you have described, your painter has died leaving you with flaking paintwork.
It appears that he did not prepare or under coat the surfaces properly before putting on the gloss coat, so as a result the paint is lifting off the shiny surfaces. Thats my guess and I am sticking to it. LW
