Painting dark bathroom - can I use normal emulsion?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.06 PM
My bathroom has a very dark bathroom paint on it. I am going to change the colour but will need to block the purple paint first. Can I use normal emulsion to do this before the final paint which will be bathroom paint? Thanks

You can use a primer, in 2 coats, on the wall to block.
You should also use moister-resistant , paint for a bathroom.
Best 2 primers or 5/6 emulsion, coats .
Really it will maybe be better , to maybe re-skim to walls
Tried it, not joking.
If three is holes, and making good, when you sand ur get back to parts of old paint.
Holes or bad bits, on the walls will not really show, until white goes on.
It's only 3 to 4 hour job to skim.
The bathroom paint is more than plaster to buy.
B4 plastering should, be done with waterproof, p.v.a
That's what I would do, the time you paint and wait to dry b4 more and more paint.
It's been use as a bathroom don't forget the best key/finish would've be on new skim .

Hi yes indeed you can if you are going for white over a dark colour, I would use a magnolia to block the dark purple then a white on top of the magnolia, but after I would tend to use a Dulux Diamond paint afterwards as this is a great hardwearing paint and perfect for bathrooms.

Just make sure you clean down and sand down walls. give it one normal coat of vinyl matt emulsion and then make sure you finish with two coats of either bathroom paint or soft sheen
