How long to complete drawings and building warrant application for getting a load bearing wall knocked down?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.05 PM
Getting a load bearing wall knocked down. Empolyed a builder to do the whole thing. I paid the deposit 6 weeks ago and the drawings still haven't been completed! So the building warrant process hasn't even started yet. How long should drawings take to complete usually? Rob Scotland Edit: Structural engineer was employed through the builder. It's been 6 weeks and still no sign of the drawings. Phoned the council and they said nothing has been submitted yet!

Drawings shouldn't take longer than a week - if done on a building notice, work can start within a couple of days after notice registered. If full plan application it would depend on local authority, should be around 4 weeks.

You will need a structural engineer drawing with calculation. The drawing will take around a week including survey, submit the drawing to building control department with building notice form, work can be started in couple of days.
