Best way to fill a large air brick which is causing damp internally?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.02 PM
I have an old large air brick on the outside of my house, first floor. The wall inside is plastered so it is now redundant but it is causing damp. The house is brick fronted Victorian so I can't easily cover it over, would it be best to find matching bricks and replace it or somehow cover it from behind so it still looks the same?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Maybe the air brick isn't causing damp, maybe it's the fact that it's covered with plaster!!
They were put in for a reason, the Victorians were arguably the best in our history and wouldn't put an air brick in for no reason!! Your house needs to breath so reinstate the air brick and you may solve your problem.
