Is a Worcester 25si boiler powerful enough for a 3 bed semi?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.02 PM

I have had british gas out to look at replacing my ferroli boiler. They have suggested a Worcester 25si boiler. I have two questions: 1. Is this boiler powerful enough? I am concerned as at the moment you cannot use the bath hot tap and any other hot tap as there is not enough water flow. It also takes 45 minutes to run the bath. 2. Are british gas the best people to go with? It includes the hive system, clean out of sludge, warranty etc. I have suggested the boiler up from this and he says I would need to change all the pipes from the current 22" which he thinks would be much more expensive, surely it can't be that much? And do I need it? Just to clarify we have had welsh water out to look at the water pressure coming into the house and it is very good, it must be the boiler making the water run so slowly out of the bath, will a new boiler solve this?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

BG would have selected the appropriate size boiler for your property. The 25Si delivers: DHW flow rate @ 35°C rise 10.2 ltr/min DHW flow rate @ 40°C rise 8.9 ltr/min Output to central heating and domestic hot water 7.03 to 24kW I'm sure BG would have made you aware that if you have a mixer shower that runs off the boiler and someone else in your house also calls for hot water, you will notice a drop in temperature in your shower. This is common with combi boilers, even if you choose the next boiler model up from the 25Si. As for 'Are British Gas the best people to go with', they are not very competitive and do not really offer value for money, if you want a more realistic quote then post the job on http://www.mybuilder.com or contact your local Gas Safe engineer, but make sure they quote 'like for like' when pricing the job, so we have a level playing field! You state that the flow rate to your bath is poor and takes a long time to fill, this will probably be your a fault with your existing boiler and/or an internal plumbing issue that needs to be investigated first before works commence!

Hello, I know the other answer probably answered it, but that's an appropriate boiler, I would definitely shop around, I do installs a almost half British gas quotes, and also you need to get your water mains looked at to see if the incoming main is suitable for a combi system.
