How to replace a damaged ceiling pendant - but only the part that holds the bulb?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.05 PM
Hi All, Hopefully someone can give me some advice. I recently tried to change the lampshade on an old ceiling pendant, and unfortunately managed to damage the part that holds the bulb (one of the two brass pins came loose). Is it possible to change just this part of the light fitting without removing the entire thing and replacing it? If so, how would I go about it - and where would I find the relevant part? Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes its possible to change just the bottom lampholder, although tricky to do when on steps. It's far easier to remove the brown and blue wires from the ceiling rose and put a new lampholder onto the flex and then reconnect it again at the ceiling rose.
