Wall has been repainted and some grey/shadow patches have appeared?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.05 PM
I recently had an internal bedroom wall painted. There are now some grey patches. It looks more like the paint hasn't dried properly rather than a mould/yellow damp colour. There were no patches previously. What could this be?

Try using a stain block or undercoat the wall and re-paint if this does not work, you have other problems. If you use stain block, allow 48 hours until you paint again.

Did you patched holes or large dents on your walls before painting? If yes then probably you had an answer, due to the fact that patching material absorbs paint differently than the rest of the wall surface. But for 100% sure you need some painter/decorator come and check this.

It sounds like damp to me, i just decorated a house and had the same problem. I thought it was water getting in some where due to the amount of rain we had, then when painting loft hatches found there was no felt under the tiles. If you have felt it might be bad brick work outside and water penetrating from the outside.
