i have cracks in my newly plastered wall what can i do
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.48 PM
I had my wall plastered 6 months ago and there are cracks appearing where there are joins in the plasterboard . The walls have been painted and the cracks are coming through the paint. Is this the fault of the plasterer and what should I do?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

yes the plasterer should have applied fibre tape to the joints of the plasterboard! if you rake out the cracks with the edge of a scraper, then apply JOINT CEMENT (comes in a tub ready mixed) apply to cracks making sure any excess is removed or scraped flat and leave for 24hrs. Now you will find the joint cement would have shrunk back leaving slight groove where crack once was, now cover with easy fill or some type of interior filler then rub down next day for smooth crackless finish
