Bricklaying & Repointing

Garage conversion-Toothing brickwork where garage door was

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.48 PM

We are currently converting our integral garage into an internal room. The garage door has been removed. The bricklayer has told us that it is not possible to 'tooth' the brick work into the pillars currently either side of where the garage door was. We now have a 'wobbly' straight seam on one side of the brick work which looks horrendous. Is it correct that this is not possible to remedy?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

hi there, any decent tradesman would have toothed it out to create a seamless finish. Graham

You should tooth the brickwork to create a stronger bonded finish. Giving the impression it was originally built this way and not added after
