Turning electricity on makes smoke detector come on
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.02 PM
Hi all, We just bought a flat. When we turn the electricity on in the box, the fire alarm goes off? There is obviously a problem... What shall we do? We want new light fixtures in ALL of the rooms and hallway... Is this going to be costly? We want LED spot lights in the bathroom and kitchen and hallway... And then pendant lights in the other rooms. Thanks in advance for your answers. :)

Faulty smoke detector! - Provided your on the top floor (as ground and mid floor flats are difficult to work on) then fitting LED spotlights should be straightforward. They would need to be marked out and then wired from the loft/attic space above. If you have a mid floor flat then there would be extensive damage to the ceilings and each ceiling would all need to be replastered afterwards as the cables are not easily installed between the ceiling joists.
