Shower flooded by tenant knocked out hallway light below

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.02 PM

Hi. My tenant accidentally flooded his shower and some water escaped beneath floor and tripped a light circuit below for the hallway light. Will this dry out over time or do I need to get an electrician out? House electrics are unaffected except for the one circuit. It has been a week and the light will still not come on and just trips the fuse board if we try to use it.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It can take several months for the wiring to dry out. Your best bet would be to pay to get a full Electrical Installation Condition Report carried out in order to check that no permanent damage has occurred.

No, what you need to do is get a electrician out to make safe the light affected, then he will restore the lights at the fuseboard for the rest of the house, then leave it to dry out then call him back to put a new light up for you.
