Do you need two plates (outlets) on the wall to install a freestanding double electric oven and hob?

Hi, I'm afraid I don't know the right terminology for this question so here goes, I hope someone understands! I am about to buy a Zanussi freestanding electric double oven with ceramic electric hob. I need an electrician to install it. I have made a few inquiries locally but have had some conflicting advice. There is currently one white plate with 3 wires coming out of it (i think there are three) I have been told that I may need to have another plate installed which will double the installation cost. The people before us had the same style oven (double electric + elec hob) and they have obviously been fine! Why might this be? The plate seems higher up than the guy thought it should be but we we're only talking about it over the phone. I hope that makes sense. I am completely out of my depth! Many thanks in anticipation of your response!!

In short no, you do not need two plates. It's possible to buy a single cooker outlet plate that allows both the oven and hob to be connected to the same circuit. Simply replace the existing single outlet plate with the one shown below. http://www.alertelectrical.com/prod/1022/click-45a-easyfit-dual-appliance-outlet-plate-prw217

A standard cooker outlet at the rear of an appliance generally below work top height supplied by a standard 6mm cable protected by a standard 30A fuse/32A MCB will serve 1 cooking appliace/2 cooking appliances within 2mtrs of the isolation switch up to 15KW as stated in the electricians on site guide using the diversification calculations. A minor works certificate will include the tests required to ensure the circuit is safe for use. By needing 2 white plates would that be 1x outlet plate and 1x isolation switch ?
