Putting a sub floor in utility room, should I use chipboard or ply to tile on?

NO-DONT USE CHIPBOARD OR PLY-WRONG-USE DITRA SCHLUTER 25-MEMBRANE GOOGLE IT-IF YOU USE PLY OR CHIPBOARD THE GROUT WILL CRACK...I SEEN IT MANY TIMES BEFORE-

18mm ply - screwed every 6inch squared. Reason for this stops any movement and cracks forming in your grout.

Both. I would use ply instead of floorboards or chipboard as your actual floor and then cover this with your backer board for tiling.

I agree with A.G Fright. I would and do use cement based backer boards. Glued and screwed. This is much more stable than just ply.

I would go with tile backer board either 6mm or 12 mm glued and screwed.
