Switched live to bathroom fan seems to be no longer working
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.48 PM
Bathroom fan stopped working and installed a replacement one which worked initially then the timer stopped. installed a second replacement one as assumed the other was faulty but cannot get it to work. fan works if wired direct to lights just using block connectors, it also works if wired direct to lights via the isolation switchi (so I think that means switch is OK). I uses a light bulb on connectors to test the circuits and this will light up if line and neutral connected via isolator switch, or switched live and neutral connected via switch (if lights switched on). when i connect up the fan cable to isolator switch and do the same procedures at the other end where it should be going into the fan,the bulb will light up if connected to line and neutral but not to switched live and neutral which seems to say to me that this one wire within the cable is no longer conducting. is this possible or have i got it wrong somewhere? and does it mean i need to change the fan cable which is up through ceiling and in the wall?
