Do I need new permissions (planning and building) if plans have changed?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.48 PM

We got all permission (planning, building) from the council to build a side and a rear extension to our house in 2011. We did the side extension in 2011 and we are planning to do the rear extension as soon as possible. On the plans the rear extension is 6530mm wide and 2930 mm long inside. It includes a toilet, dining room, and the extension of the living room. I would like to change the dimension to 6530X3500. Also I would like to change the place and numbers of the windows and doors at the back wall. Inside I would like a small bathroom and toilet together and a big room instead of the original plans. Do you think do I need new permissions or do I need to amend my existing permissions at all or we can just build the rear extension? If I need new papers could you explain why (because I change the dimension, change inside or change the windows and doors at the back wall). We live in West Sussex.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello, Things have changed so much since 2011 in the planning side of things, all you need to do is amend your drawings, with the changes and send them into the council, or if you're not sure, get the planning officer to come out and give you the advice you need. Hope this is of some help. Regards (Greengate Builders)
