Need to replace pictured old fuse box, with latest BS standards

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.05 PM

Here is my existing fuse box; http://wan.st/public/fusebox.jpg need to replace with the latest BS standards (mainly for electric car charger point, most likely 3kW) Can you recommend a model, and what to watch out for feature wise, and installation wise? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Link to the picture does not work? But a decent consumer unit would be an MK sentry board. Comes with 10 year manufacturers warranty. As fitting a modern dual RCD consumer unit to existing wiring can be an issue, it is strongly recommended that the installation is fully tested and inspected first to check to see if there are any issues that could affect the operation of the RCD's etc. The link below is to the ESC guide that's worth a look at; http://www.esc.org.uk/fileadmin/user_upload/documents/industry/best_practice/BPG6-2012TP_web.pdf

RCBO board all the time - Fuseboards I prefer are Wylex or Crabree

I would say rcbo consumer unit so each circuit is separate and meets fully requirements of regulation

RCBO Boards - best way forward, but hellish expensive. Wylex dual RCD board or as stated earlier MK Sentry. I prefer the MK as looks neat with the door shut

please be aware of the new regs regarding the charging equipment for electric vehicles as there have been some amendments to the regs in relation to this.
