LED mirror with demister pad on constantly

I have recently had an LED mirror with shaver socket and demister pad fitted and the demister pad is on all the time. I have queried this with the installer and he has said that is how this particular mirror is. Do you think he is right or may he have wired it incorrectly?

Did you have wiring in place already and the installer just connected it to that or was it wired in from new? only I would have thought that the demister should be on only when the bathroom light switch is turned on? leaving it on constantly will inevitably shorten its life as the element will burn out. Did you get an electrical certificate and part P building regulation certificate for the works? only all electrical works in the bathroom are notifiable works and failure to notify LABC can result in a prosecution and £5000 fine.
