Radiators not getting hot after additional radiator installed in living room

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.32 PM

We had an additional radiator installed in the living room. Now the original ones no longer heat up, they only get luke-warm at best. I've checked and the hot pipe feeding the radiator is hot. It has been bled so isn't that. Also the pressure on the boiler is fine and all other radiators working fine.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello, It sounds like your radiators need balancing. If you turn the radiator lock shield valves down, not the thermostatic valve but the valve on the other side of the radiators. Start with the radiator nearest the boiler turning the lockshield valve down until it is only just open, follow on to the next radiator working away from the boiler leaving the lockshield open slightly more than the one before. On the last couple of radiators furthest away from the boiler, leave the lockshield fully open. You could also try turning all the radiators down and some nearest the boiler off and let the heating run through the radiator that doesn't work to remove air from system. Thanks Ryan
