Hi, There was a water leak that originated from the roof. It leaked through ceilings, walls and floors. We contacted the insurance company and they sent a team to install dehumidifiers in the house. The machines were on for 5 days. Now that the dehumidifiers are gone, an evaluator from the insurance company came and said that they will return with another team to repair the damage in a month. We are currently on a waiting list. In order to dry the inside of the walls, they cut several holes into the wall to enable the drying process with dehumidifiers and fans. Dehumidifiers are supposed to dry out the inside of the walls. However, wouldn't waiting one month before repairing those open holes in the wall, bring humidity back to the walls, ceilings and floors? In a month, wouldn't the natural humidity of a home (ie. cooking, showering, clothes drying etc.) bring back the humidity in the opened walls? Will mold start to grow as a result and cause more damage?
