CORGI registered plumber failed to register boiler

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.32 PM

In dec 2006 I had a new boiler fitted and signed off by a CORGI registered fitter/plumber in my extension. The benchmark page was filled out with the relevant details ( serial number , CORGI ID etc ) and as far as I was aware the installation was registered with CORGI. I've now applied for a completion certificate on the extension only to find out the one thing that is outstanding for this is a gas certificate, the installation wasn't registered with CORGI ! I've checked with CORGI and in 2006 the guy was a registered CORGI gas fitter ( his ID was valid ) . My problem is that now he has moved into another line of work so isn't GAS SAFE registered . He has said if the boiler isn't made anymore, then it can't be commissioned / approved by a GAS SAFE Engineer so I would possibly need to buy a new boiler !!! Could anyone shed a little light on the situation. Thanks in advance.

You don't need a new boiler if this ones working fine and is safe, get a local gas safe installer to check the installation and issue you a gas certificate.

From what you have mentioned I do believe that the person who fitted your boiler must have used a fake ID to dupe you , thats why the work was not registered with CORGI.
