Reversing a door, making a chase for new light switch and making good afterwards
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.48 PM
I'm looking at reversing the door to front room and moving light switch to other side of door frame. The chase and flush mounted socket are being cut into wall that is decorated with lining paper that has been painted (2 coats of emulsion). Is it possible to achieve a seamless finish when making good or would I need to repaper?

No need to re paper, just fill two coats of easy fill and sand to a smooth finish.

it is possible but.
make sure you dont overfill or you will get a ridge shadow. so fill flush, then refill flush with second skim. and give it a few good coats of paint. the trick is to start with a neat chase. no blown paper round the edges. do this by cutting a sharp line using a craft knife / blade. and a rule/spirit level. then peel the paper off on the chase side of the cuts
unless you
