Removal of carlite plaster on an internal wall
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.04 PM
Hi I'm wondering if someone can help, I'm totally naive to this. I've got a lot of damp in my utility room which is a converted out-house of a Victorian house. I've been told the walls are only half brick thickness. It's been plastered with carlite plaster directly onto the brickwork and this plaster is now mouldy in places, crumbling, looks like it is forming ice crystals (although I don't think it is). I've been told I need to remove the plaster down to the brickwork - does anyone know an easy way of doing this? Thank you, Samantha

Hi there
No easy way, just need to get a kango are chipping hammer drill to remove, also this is the worst plaster you can use on damp walls as it acts like a sponge attracting water. The white crystals are efflorescent salts which comes out because of the damp,
once hacked off you need to sort out the damp professionally.
