Tiles or laminate flooring for PVC conservatory?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.01 PM

I have had a pvc conservatory installed, and it sits on one course of bricks with damp proof membrane. Can I have laminate flooring or would tiles be better? I have been told my floor base may become damp & should have tiles because of this. My base will be concrete, installation boards, underfloor heating then either laminate or tiles. Please can you advise as I would like to have laminate flooring laid.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would put tiles in as laminate will move a lot in the heat of the summer. I also think tiles look better in a conservatory. You can put down what you like just make sure the laminate is ok for under floor heating. Williams Maintenance

Hi Tracy It really depends on the type of underfloor heating. Are you using water pipes connected to your boiler or electric cables or mats? Pipes or cables are set in an insulated sheet of high density foam. Electric heating foil sheets are rolled out over 6mm Depron insulation, covered by a polythene sheet with laminate or engineered boards laid on top. Laminate should be fine and you can get water resistant types. Good luck. Martin
