What tradesman do I need to fix tapping heating pipes?

Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.32 PM

Hello all! Our heating pipes under the bedroom floorboards are making tapping noise each time the heating kicks off or cools down. It drives me nuts but hubby and I have absolute no DIY genes. I felt it needed heating engineer or plumber's expertise in identifying where the noise comes from (although I'm pretty sure they are coming from under bedroom floor boards but it's always good to have a second pair of professional ears to reassure the work to be carried out), and carpenter or builder's floor opening skills, then heating engineer/plumber to fix the noise and carpet fitter's technique to restore carpets afterwards. Or are there any person can do it all? Please please advise and I'll post a job to find the correct person to help us. Please have sympathy to people who are light sleepers and wakes up every time when heating kicks off or cooling down throughout the heating season. Seriously need some help to fix this problem. Many thanks to all who can help! _____________________ Thanks for your reply J&M Plumbing service! It gives me good direction in where to post the jobs. Appreciated!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello there, Most plumbers, general builder should be able to correct this problem. The chances are the pipework when installed was either not nail clipped down or fitted to tightly between notches on joists, a solution to this would be to if needed widen the gap between the pipe an wrap the pipes in a hair felt lagging that is available from most plumbing merchants then nail clip down, the problem could also be the pipework coming through the boards the the radiators if the holes are to tight around pipe. Dependent on how well fitted and quality of carpet it may be advisable to have a carpet fitter on hand to ensure carpets are not damaged.
