What type of lintels to use for french doors in terraced house
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.48 PM
At present, I've got a window in rear of my terraced house. I want to remove it and fit french doors. I'm looking for advice on the type of lintels I should be using as there is only a very small air gap between the 2 courses of brick. The french doors width is 2 metres.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

hi there neil,
would I be right in assuming that the current window size is less than 2m wide and you would be widening the opening? if so, you would need a 2.4m catnic lintel, they come in a variety of widths depending on the size of your cavity. It is important you measure the cavity and also when fitting the lintel install a cavity tray along with weep vents. I would highly recommend posting the job and get the work done properly because this is major work and I would consider it a big task for the average DIYer.
perhaps I have misunderstood the question but I hope I have cleared things up
