Electrical

Downstairs lighting not working, but none of the fuses tripped on the board and even reset rcd

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.04 PM

Hi, I switched on my ceiling fan in the front room and it failed to work, as it stopped, the kitchen light and under-stair light went out and hasn't worked since. None of the fuses tripped on the board, even reset rcd just in case but still nothing. (It the does say that the "red" ones are not rcd protected, which happens to be upstairs, downstairs lighting and central heating) turned main switch off and on too. Hall light still works and I'm assuming it runs of the downstairs circuit as it remained on when I turned off the "upstairs lighting". Checked and replaced bulbs and everything else appears to work.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Sounds like a loose connection, most likely at the electrical connections at the fan light in the lounge as these fans are cause a lot of vibration when running.

It sounds very much like a loose/broken wire on this lighting circuit. ideally call a registered electrician to locate the fault (with test equipment if required) and rectify.
