Electric supply in garage via a portable device
Anonymous user 14/03/2024 - 2.31 PM
I need an electric supply in my garage via a portable device I can recharge to run a light/radio, maybe a heater for several hours at a time. Is there such a thing and where can I get it?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Such things are available but they are not lightweight and are extremely expensive as its basically a lot of lead acid car batteries and a 12v dc to 230v ac inverter in a large container. You're probably looking at something in the region of £2000 depending on what ampere hour rating you need as they tend to be custom built and not off the shelf items.
Surely a simpler/cheaper solution would be to install permanent mains power to the garage? or use a small petrol driven generator instead?

There are such devices either inverters (rechargeable) or generators (petrol). It's up to you to do your homework with power requirements/budget but I suspect your best option would be to opt for a small low decibel petrol generator.
