Chimney & Fireplace

Chimney breast been removed in past, can I have it rebuilt?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.47 PM

We moved into our new house last year, not realising that when they built the ensuite upstairs they have removed the chimney breast. We would like to open our fire up downstairs, we had a smoke test to make sure it's defiantly blocked up and it is, the smoke had no where to go and came back out into the living room. We have a chimney breast downstairs which is the one we would like an open fire in, but where it should be in our bedroom in order for the smoke to go into the attic chimney and out the roof it has been removed, but they haven't removed the chimney in the loft. Does anyone know whether it is possible to rebuild this so I can have a fire?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes this can be replaced, it is a fairly easy job to, I do hope they supported the chimney in the loft properly if they took it out from the bedroom. Hope this is of use to you. AD building and maintenance. Tony.
